For those of you who are not on facebook, or are not one of Carrie's facebook friends, or did not see her status update . . . here is Carrie's Facebook Status Update from 13 hours ago . . . . .
Hello from Nepal and the Himalayas! We made it to Annapurna Base camp a couple of days ago and are on our way down now. Feel like I've literally been to the top of the world - lots of tough trekking but so worth it. Met so many amazing people too. what an amazing experience and what a treasure to share it with my Mom!
My mom is going to shake her head at me for putting all this stuff on her blog - ha ha ha ha! But I believe you all needed to know that she made it to "the top of the world". So AWESOME!

Survival on the Mountain
So we still have not heard anything from 'the girls'. Dad figures we won't hear anything until they get back down the mountain. They are supposed to reach the top (base camp) about NOW! Cool. Actually with the time change, they should be heading down about now. . . still cool. . .
Dad recorded a movie from satellite TV called "Survival on the Mountain".
It is a good thing that nobody watched this movie before they went - sheesh. Let's just say, the acting had room for improvement. . . and I can't believe all the crazy things that happened to this couple - it left me shaking my head. . . . but anyways, I got to see a little bit of the scenery in the Himalayas ( between avalanches and a man miraculously digging his way out of the snow after being buried alive. . . you get the idea. . . . )
Dad just looked up the weather and it is about 0 where they are. . . so all should be well with 'the girls'. . . .
It will be nice to hear from them.

First Note from the Girls
Well, we still haven't seen any pictures, but we were excited to get this message today! This is written by my sister Carrie who is also hiking with my mom in Nepal. She wrote this note to her husband. As you can see by the dates, they are right on schedule as they are in Ghorepani. I can't wait to see pictures!
"I think we have better reception here. We are in Ghorepani. Arrived minutes before the rain. Incredible day. Stairs that never ended meant gorgeous views. Rhododendron forest. Cremation of a European boy who died up here last night. Dinner Flambé. Viewing the big peaks now. Incredible. Feet doing well. Love Ya!!
Please send that message to Dad and ask him to forward it to Lance. We're all just loving every minute.
You'd love it here. Need to come back together!"
Carrie.

Where I am today
Hi - This is Trish, LaVern's daughter. I have had multiple people ask me multiple questions like . . where my mom is today, and if she is hiking yet, if I have heard from her, how she is doing . . . so I thought I would hack into her blog tonight, and update it for the world. I hope she doesn't mind. I'll try not to say anything too crazy ( ha ha)
So she has this calendar here sitting by the computer, and it looks like this is her schedule for the next month. I am going to share it with YOU!
April 5 Calgary to Vancouver
April 6 Vancouver to Hong Kong
April 7 Hong Kong to Kathmandu ( I heard that their flight was late leaving Hong Kong, and therefore did not arrive in Kathmandu until early Sunday morning. . . hopefully their adrenalin outweighed their jet lag . . . )
April 8 Kathmandu
April 9 Pokhara
April 10 Trek - Nayapool
April 11 Trek - Ghorepani
April 12 Trek - PoonHill - Tadapani
April 13 Trek - Chomrong
April 14 Trek - Davan
April 15 Trek - Machupuchre Base Camp
April 16 Trek - Annapurna Base Camp
April 17 Trek - Himalaya
April 18 Trek - Sinuwa
April 19 Trek - Jhinudanda (hotspring)
April 20 Trek - Birethani
April 21 Pokhara
April 22 Pokhara to Kathmandu
April 23 Kathmandu
April 24 Kathmandu
April 25 Kathmandu to Hong Kong
Then she is in Hong Kong for a few days till she heads home. . . . maybe she doesn't want the world to know where she is every minute of every day. . .
Sorry mom, if I gave too much information . . . but people were asking!!!
So, she is TREKKING NOW!
So cool.
I think (actually I know) I have the coolest mom in the world!
Go mom go - and be safe!

2 Days to Nepal.
WOW! It came so fast.
I think we (Linda Evans, Loural Meeks and myself) are physically and mentally ready.
We've been busy hiking the stairs: at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre, Woodward's Tower and Cumberland Tower; weekly 3 hour hikes in the Lethbridge coulees, usually in strong winds; also elliptical, treadmills and spinning and some weight training too.
This is the stuff that's on the list, I have been collecting. I'm almost ready to pack, but there is still a box full on the floor. Jack thinks I should take a suitcase. I think I should take a backpack. I will probably be taking both.
This is what the bed has looked like for the last month.
No guests allowed.
The hardest decision now is how to simplify the "list".

72 Days to Nepal
The 12oo mile challenge in 2012 is helping me to prepare for Nepal. Wow, do I feel good! I think it can become a reality. My best birthday gift to myself, today is the 111 miles I have walked since Jan. 1, 2012.
